• Define customer expectations -- i.e. negotiate specific

                       requirements and appropriate feedback measurements.

                    • Communicate with the work group’s supplier and negotiate

requirements  and feedback mechanisms as with its customers.

Begin elevating awareness by conducting the first, in an on-going series of brief seminars with the employees to communicate assessment results.  This session would serve to convey the state and future vision of the business, performance goals and how we intend to get there.  This is where we introduce the concept of self-managed work teams.  Each succeeding session would then serve as a training vehicle and forum for employees to communicate and share experiences.

 4. Monitor Progress & Results   Sustain improvement by establishing tracking systems to monitor results.  Evaluate implementation and recommend other required training efforts.  Replicate the process by either moving up or down stream of the initial work group.  By and large, work group activities will have achieved positive, measurable results, including:

                • Increased quality and productivity, 20-30% is typical

                   • Improved skill utilization and development

                   • Improved response to change

                   • Strengthened morale and motivation

                   • Reduced conflict and turnover.
